Hypermilers trick the Prius into high mileage “Stealth” modes (80+mpg) by momentarily releasing the accelerator pedal, then re-applying mild pressure to remove all energy arrows on the energy screen. It is sometimes called Pulse and Glide (or Burn and Coast). This is how the high mileage races are won with 000’s of mpg (not conventional driving). For the Prius, I’ve noticed this can increase the amount of fuel condensate (buildup) in the intake manifold… Just remove your air filter, open the butterfly valve and look inside the intake. This should be cleaned out every 30k. Especially if you practice these Stealth techniques. Thanks for the tip Mark!
